Take a look at what I bought at Target this morning. Not my usual shopping trip that's for sure!!!! Doug and Andrew are going on a road trip and will be sleeping in a tent at their destination. They'll be buying their dinners there, but for the rest of it...well, this is what they wanted.
As a person who mainly shops for ingredients, this was a new thing for me. I was a little embarrassed when I checked out. I felt like I should explain why I was buying all of this junky food to the check out girl (like she really cared!)
I was getting hungry buying all of this and actually treated myself to some goodies that I don't normally buy. I bought Tasykake peanut butter KandyKakes, and Milano cookies (thanks to my friend Jennifer for talking about them and making me suddenly crave them like mad!)

ANOTHER SPRING WALK
Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. I feel like I've said that a lot on here. I guess I don't tend to blog about the boring miserable days.
It was really the first day that I would call truly warm. I was not the least bit chilled when I was outside (inside is a different story though-these stone houses hold the chill of winter for a LONG time!)
Tommy, Billy, Allie, Boomer, and I set out before lunch to take a nice long walk in the woods.
The trees are still not looking like they know it's spring. I know the leaves will be coming soon though! The spring flowers are out in all of their glory. We found all my favorites except for jack-in-the-pulpits. I think this is a little early for them. We found...
VIOLETS
BLOOD ROOT FLOWERS (we've had a lot of fun over the years using the sap from these stems to paint faces)
SKUNK CABBAGE all grown up
SPRING BEAUTIES these were my favorite when I was younger. Our backyard would be a carpet of them, and I would be very unhappy with anyone who stepped on ANY.
MAY APPLES with their blossoms just about to open.
FUZZY FIDDLE HEAD FERNS
TROUT LILIES I think these are so graceful looking!
We walked down to the creek where Boomer got and drink and we enjoyed the beautiful water for a little while.
The hayfield is a gorgeous green. In another couple of months I won't be walking this way anymore because the hay will be waist high and it gives me the creeps to walk through. Who knows what's in there!
The home stretch. LUNCH TIME!

EGGS
Thursday, April 9, 2009
Spring is making its VERY slow arrival in our neck of the woods. It seems like for every warm day, we get 5 chilly, drizzly days. Just 2 nights ago our nighttime temps were flirting with the 20s. Today though, is one of those gorgeous, sunny, getting warm days that we have been looking forward to.
The grass is starting to turn green much to the delight of the horses.
The butterfly bush is making its promised comeback after the severe fall pruning it received.
The day lilies are looking positively lush in the morning sun.
Some trees are beginning to bud and lend the view out our windows a little color. It's amazing to think that in less than a month all of our trees will be in full leaf!
This is just a tiny tree among a bunch of larger ones. You can't even see it once its neighbors have grown leaves, but right now, it's the star!
The wood pile on the porch has dwindled and given way to...
Fishing gear. Trout season started over the weekend and the freezer is full once again with fresh caught fish.
Our new chicks arrived earlier this week and we are LOVING having babies in the kitchen again.
Tommy has once again taken the job of naming them. This one is Scraggles.
Aren't they just precious!!!!! Last year, out of 8, only 4 survived. We're hoping for better luck with these!
The baskets are lined up, ready and waiting to be filled with delicious goodies.
The most anticipated and important day of the season is quickly approaching. Are you ready?
HAPPY EASTER!
